Test scores reveal slight improvement
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing scores for kindergarten through ninth grades in the School District of Beloit have risen slightly in the past two years for most of the grades, and appear to be slowly catching up to the national average.

Like most of you, I came to know the importance of my teachers who taught me in kindergarten and high school recently. While glancing through the newspaper on my hurried way to my office, my eyes just got stuck on the picture of a familiar face in the obituary column. As I was trying to recollect my unretentive memory, it then occurred to me that it was the photo of my kindergarten math teacher. She was one of the most respected and kindest teachers of my school. The way she taught math was different and innovative, making most of her students engrossed in web of trigonometry, algebra, etc. The one thing that we can hope is that our kids won't be like us and give due respect that every teacher deserves. My joy grew no bound when I saw my niece preparing a small handmade card for the teachers day, just like the day I bought the joyful Verizon FiOS Bundles into my life and never regretted it. Just imagine who would be happy for us today as we have accomplished a lot in our career and reached at a higher perspective in life. Naturally it has to be our teachers. They are the one who were with us during the countless painstaking moments in life, making sure that even though we have failed multiple times but at the end we have converted this failure into success and tasted victory in life. It left me shattered, how could we just neglect the contribution of the things that our teachers have done in our life. We must have hated some of them, but they were the ones that gave us a better understanding of life. Without our teachers, how could we survive and question the general paradigm of the society. Most of the great people like Albert Einstein, Alexander Graham Bell, etc have always cited their teachers for their success and achievement. Such respect is not given to any other profession in the world. Why? It is because teachers are the ones that influence a child. They motivate and mold children so that they become good human beings and citizens of the nation. Teachers not only pass on their knowledge but also their experience that makes students know about the difficulties they will face in life and how to overcome them. I still remember during the PTA meetings she never criticized about the behavior of students to their parents. She even told my mom how sweet and adorable child I was and very much quite in the class, making my mom wonder how an angel I was at school and devil at home. Seeing her photo in obituary column just devastated me. I felt sad and a small drop of tear just came from my eyes. Being a teacher is one of the most difficult and demanding jobs. Whether you are a strict or joyful teacher, you will command respect from each of your students. In countries like Japan, students always bow whenever they meet their teacher irrespective of the place and in countries like in India and Sri Lanka; students always stand up from their seat whenever the teacher comes to their class or even give their seats in buses and trains. How could I just forget about her or in that case even of those teachers and professors who have taught me? To be frank they are the ones who guided me and provoked me to question things that are irrational and beyond the bonds. My teachers were the ones who told me to think out of the box and never shy away from expressing my opinions. They are the ones who told me that nothing is impossible and the sky is the limit in case of knowledge.
